Student campaigning for change to student finance system
A local undergraduate is campaigning for change to the Island's student finance system.
Kathryn Sharman, a Law student in the UK, admits Manx students are at a financial advantage once they've graduated, but thinks there's too much pressure on parents to provide financial stability during their children's further education.
British students have access to a student loan, and, in some cases, maintenance grants, which cover their living costs, rent and day-to-day needs.
Miss Sharman says in relative terms, the pressure on Manx families can be much greater:
'Power of veto' might help get difficult decisions through, says chief minister
Gas prices to remain unchanged for 2026
Ramsey Commissioners not adding 'optional' one percent increase to social housing rents
New gynaecology clinic room will 'significantly increase capacity'
