MEA may disconnect supplies; bus details

Power could be switched off in areas around the Island this afternoon, the Manx Electricity Authority is warning.

MEA officials say it could be necessary to turn off supplies in areas affected by flooding.

If you have any difficulties or require help you can call 687687.

Large waves are expected to break over coastal areas where sea defences have already been damaged.

With severe gale force winds also predicted, Neil Young at the Met Office has this warning.

Although many thousands of sandbags have been distributed, if you need to collect any more they can be collected on Douglas Promenade by the Empress Hotel, the Hilton Hotel, the Castlemona Shops and Strathallan Crescent.

In Castletown, sandbags are available from Hope Street, Victoria Road and the promenade near the James Road junction and they are also available on Ramsey Quayside – at the East Street, West Street and Christian Street junctions.

Bus services 1, 1A, 2, 6, 13 and 13A and the Ramsey town services are being diverted from 1pm when roads are closed.
