Media Isle of Man 'investigating' after 560 newspapers found dumped

Beach Buddies increasingly dealing with non-beach rubbish

Media Isle of Man says it is 'investigating' recent reports of the Isle of Man Courier being disposed of incorrectly.

It's after Beach Buddies found more than 500 of the newspapers dumped in one of its bins at Blue Point along with around 40 "Best Business Guide" brochures.

A spokesperson for the media organisation confirmed the company is 'working with its distribution network to establish exactly what happened'.

They said: "We are aware of recent reports concerning copies of the Isle of Man Courier being disposed of incorrectly and are investigating these incidents.

"We take these reports seriously and are working with our distribution network to establish exactly what happened.

"Each week around 20,000 free copies of the Courier are delivered to homes, SPAR shops, EVF petrol stations and public collection points across the Isle of Man. 

"We will continue to work with our distribution network to ensure that our readers have access to the Isle of Man's only free weekly newspaper as expected."

In a post on social media Beach Buddies highlighted that 'very little of the rubbish in the bin was actually from the beach - it was virtually all left-overs from picnics or BBQs'.
