Men admit football violence charges

Two men have been warned they may face prison sentences after admitting their part in violence which flared at a football match earlier this year.

22 year old Samuel George Ingham of Tynwald Close in St John’s admitted causing grievous bodily harm on Samuel Theobald.

Meanwhile 56 year old John Edmund Holland of Rhennie Road, Greeba admitted carrying an offensive weapon and using provoking behaviour.

All charges relate to incidents during and after a Premier League game between Laxey and St John's at Glen Road on March 2, which saw 10 players booked and two sent off.

The men appeared before Deemster Montgomery at a Court of General Gaol this morning, when they were granted bail.

Mr Montgomery warned that granting the men bail won’t rule out a custodial sentence when they appear again for sentencing on Friday, December 6.
