Methodist church: no current abuse allegations

Church says reports are historical

The head of the Methodist Church on the Island says he’s confident there are no ongoing abuse allegations after the church released a report yesterday.

Ministers on the Island told a UK-wide investigation into abuse dating back to the 1950s they were aware of six allegations on the Isle of Man.

But Reverend David Shirtliff says the cases are historical and deal with accusations against anybody working with the Methodist Church, not just preachers.

He told James Davis he’s confident there’s no reason for alarm following the report’s publication:
