Mauro Poncini fatally injured at Cruickshanks Corner
The inquest into the death of a Swiss motorcycle racer who died during this year’s Manx Grand Prix has been opened and adjourned.
At Douglas Courthouse today (9 September) the coroner of inquests confirmed investigations into the death of Mauro Poncini are ongoing.
The court heard the 29-year-old sustained neck and chest injuries in an incident on the first lap of the Senior/Supersport timed practice on 18 August.
He was pronounced dead at Cruickshanks Corner in Ramsey.
Releasing the Caslano man's body, so that funeral arrangements can take place, James Brooks offered his condolences to his family and friends.
It was a sentiment echoed by the advocate representing the Auto Cycle Union who was also in court.
The inquest was adjourned to a date to be set.
