MHK asks what advice was sought before increasing Income Tax rate

Moorhouse also wants dates CoMin were advised about change

An MHK is questioning whether external advice was sought before increasing tax on the Isle of Man.

From April the higher rate of Income Tax will jump from 20 percent to 22 percent.

Treasury claims the extra money generated will be ‘ringfenced’ for the Island’s healthcare services.

In the House of Keys on Tuesday (5 March) the treasury minister will be asked if he’s received guidance on the impact this will have.

Jason Moorhouse, who represents Arbory, Castletown and Malew, will also ask the chief minister for the dates the Council of Ministers was advised, or updated, on the change.

The House of Keys will sit at 10am.

You can listen to proceedings live on Manx Radio’s AM1368 frequency or online HERE.
