Urgent question tabled for June's Tynwald sitting

An MHK wants to know what, if any, further security measures have been put in place at the Island's ports of arrival following recent events in Belfast.

Onchan member Julie Edge has put forward an urgent question for this week's sitting of Tynwald asking what assessment has been made of the implications for the Island.

There has been several days of unrest and violent disorder in the Northern Irish city following an attack on a man who suffered lifechanging injuries as a result.

A Sudanese man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder.

Ms Edge -  who is seeking re-election in September alongside fellow candidates Rob Callister, Gabriella Corkish, Dr Rachel Glover and Oliver Lockwood - will put her urgent question to Chief Minister Alfred Cannan on Tuesday (16 June).
