MHK takes stand on Iran sanctions

Singer questions reduction of nuclear threat

A Ramsey MHK insists he had to take a stand against EU proposals to lift sanctions in Iran.

Tynwald was asked to add its backing to that of other nations in supporting the measures.

Members were told they had to be realistic of the knowledge, detail and information they had on events in Iran compared to the guidance the Manx government was receiving from larger world states.

However, Leonard Singer - one of six politicians to oppose the vote - is questioning whether Iran has taken any positive steps towards peace and reducing its nuclear threat.
