Ownership won't be sold back to hedgefunds in future
The Treasury Minister says there's been a very positive response to the news that government is to buy the Steam Packet Company - subject to Tynwald approval.
The news was announced earlier this week.
Mr Cannan says whilst he expects some debate, he's confident both Keys and Legislative Council will support the move.
Speaking on Talking Heads this lunchtime, he said if the sale goes through it will be structured in such a way to make it impossible for future governments to sell the company back into the ownership of investment banks or hedgefunds.
