Minister encourages response to house value survey

Help for future administrations

Even a modest response to a house value survey, currently being carried out in conjunction with rates demands, will help a future government.

Treasury Minister, Eddie Teare, says this voluntary exercise will be for a future administration's use in deciding a possible way forward.

It's argued that the present system for rates, based on rentable value, is outdated and needs replacing

People are being asked to estimate where their house is placed in several broad value bands.
