
The Agriculture Minister has been explaining how a new scheme to help farmers hit by poor weather will work.
This week Phil Gawne secured Tynwald backing for the Agriculture (Severe Weather Assistance) Loans and Grants Scheme.
It aims to compensate farmers who have suffered heavy livestock losses, in the spring snows, for example, or offer loans to those affected by last year's prolonged wet weather.
Mr Gawne says with regard to the livestock losses due to the snow, the funding is to replace the animals, not the profits:
