Minister explains road traffic changes in Douglas

New-look Governor's Bridge and Glencrutchery Road

Motorists coming into Douglas from Onchan and the north had to negotiate a new road layout this morning.

There's a new-look traffic flow at Governor's Bridge, and a lane on Glencrutchery Road specially for buses and cyclists.

The new lane starts just after the pit lane at the Grandstand, and ends just before the traffic lights.

Meanwhile, cars travelling out of Douglas towards Onchan are being directed around Governor's Dip.

The Department of Infrastructure has changed the road layout in efforts to help ease traffic flow after the prom was made one-way.

We've had reports the queues along the route have been lengthy today, but many are concerned that it came as a complete surprise - "why no consultation?" one listener asked.

Dollin Mercer spoke to Infrastructure Minister Tim Baker:
