Mixed views from students on school uniforms

Consultation launched on secondary school clothing

Government says a consultation on secondary school uniforms is to make sure parents have access to the clothes and kit that's needed.

And, says Education Minister Julie Edge, that it's affordable.

It will run until the middle of February.

Ms Edge says its important for the Department to guide schools in the right direction:

Meanwhile, opinion among students themselves appears to be mixed.

Some say they might enjoy wearing more relaxed clothing while this pupil says a uniform is useful practice for the workplace:
