MHK says next steps should be outlined in March
The MHK who wants to introduce an Assisted Dying Bill on the Isle of Man says he’s expecting to outline the next steps for it next month.
Consultation on proposed new legislation – which would allow people who are terminally ill to end their own lives – has now closed.
The debate around assisted dying was restarted by Ramsey MHK, and GP, Dr Alex Allinson who has brought forward a Private Members Bill.
It’s not yet known how many people have responded to the public consultation – or what they said – but it’s clear the issue is divisive.
Some healthcare professionals and religious groups have voiced their concerns publicly warning against the introduction of a new law.
