More jail time for ecstasy teen

Douglas teenager had 17 tablets worth £180

A 17-year-old’s been warned about his future, after being jailed for possessing ecstasy.

Dylan Jordan Ritchie, of no fixed address, admitted the offence when he appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes.

The hearing at Douglas courthouse was told Ritchie was spoken to by police on Saturday, 18 February.

At around 10.30pm, officers on Marathon Road asked him if he had anything he shouldn’t, to which he replied he had ecstasy tablets.

When they searched him, they found two small plastic Ziploc bags containing 17 tablets, which the court heard were worth around £180.

Ritchie is already serving a prison sentence at Jurby, and the court heard he had previous convictions for possessing class B and class C drugs.

He told police the pills were for his own personal use, and Mrs Hughes told him possessing class A drugs was “a surefire route to custody”.

He was jailed for another six weeks, which will run concurrently with his existing eight-week sentence.
