More than 80 arrested for breaching coronavirus laws

Home affairs minister reveals figures in virtual House of Keys

More than 80 people have been arrested for breaking emergency coronavirus regulations.

The Home Affairs Minister Graham Cregeen gave the latest numbers at a virtual sitting of the House of Keys this afternoon.

As of Tuesday this week Mr Cregeen says there have been 84 arrests in total since emergency powers were brought in.

Twenty-four people have been on remand in total, with eight currently on remand. 

There have been four fixed penalty notices issued, which stand at a minimum of £120.

He added 15 people have so far been convicted of offences, 12 of whom have been sentenced to time in prison.
