More than a thousand people awaiting Covid tests

No new cases in update but many results to come

Close to 1,500 people are awaiting a PCR test for Covid-19 after two individual, who tested positive for the virus after completing 14 days self-isolation, went out into the community over the Christmas break.

They went to several eateries, a busy nightclub, the casino and a supermarket.

As a result, a number of businesses have chosen to close while getting staff tested, whilst care homes have closed to the public as a precaution.

The Director of Public Health Dr Henrietta Ewart says the risk to the community is low, though anyone who visited the same locations (see list below) and has symptoms should self-isolate and call the 111 Covid hotline.

Manx Radio has contacted the government for further comment, but has yet to receive a response.

There are no new cases of the latest update, which came this afternoon, but wasn't posted on social media.

The total number of active cases remains at 7.
