Second conviction for careless driving
A Ramsey driver responsible for a head-on crash has been banned from the roads after his second conviction for careless driving in two years.
Fifty-year-old Darren Tony Hadley, of Brookhill Road, appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
He pleaded guilty to a single charge of driving without due care and attention on May Hill in Ramsey.
Prosecution advocate Roger Kane told the hearing Hadley was at the wheel of his silver Vauxhall Zafira at around 3.30pm on 5 April.
The hearing was told Hadley suddenly veered onto the wrong side of the road and into the path of an oncoming Lexus – smashing into it and injuring its driver.
Representing himself in court Hadley said he'd been distracted and wanted to apologise for the incident.
In 2019 he admitted careless driving after a crash on the Mountain Road in a car with defective tyres and had been given six penalty points as well as an £850 fine.
Mrs Hughes banned him from driving for six months, fining him £500 and also ordering him to pay £50 towards prosecution costs.
