£75K raised by dedicated charities
The race is on for two Manx charities looking for early diagnosis to a disease that degenerates the nervous system.
Efforts to raise funds to research the onset of Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) are underway.
The condition is in the same family as Parkinson's and progressively affects nerves that control different functions.
Voluntary charities, the Manx MSA Trust and Jurby Wellness have raised around £75,000 to fund the first 12 months of study.
It's typically very difficult to diagnose and much of the research conducted looks for treatment.
There is no cure.
40-year-old Chris Blake set up the Manx MSA after he was diagnosed in 2015 - his best friend, Naill Carey, now represents him in delivering his aims:
