Primary heads consider possible industrial action

A decision by primary heads on the Island to consider possible strike action is 'unprecedented', according to their union's national secretary.

The result of a ballot of National Association of Head Teachers members on the Island has revealed 85 per cent of members would be prepared to strike, while 95 per cent said they'd be prepared to take industrial action of some sort, short of strike action.

The turnout was just shy of 72 per cent.

A response from the Department of Education, Sport and Culture is due later today, Manx Radio understands.
