Union was in talks with Department on Friday
The NASUWT would have suspended its strike action tabled for today and tomorrow if the Department of Education, Sport and Culture had agreed to its terms.
In talks held as late as Friday, which were described as 'very productive', the teaching union offered to suspend the action if the government 'confirmed their commitment' to suggestions made.
Speaking to Manx Radio ahead of the strikes, the NASUWT's Deputy General Secretary, Jane Peckham, said she's disappointed they have had to go ahead, when the disruption could have actually been avoided:
