Nationalism claims are only 'rumours', says MHK

Rushen MHK Quintin Gill says rumours police are using anti-terror laws to tackle nationalism in the south of the Island seem to be just that – rumours.

He says he’s aware of reports of people being stopped by police for wearing T-shirts and CCTV being seized from pubs.

But Mr Gill says the Island’s anti-terror laws wouldn’t apply to nationalists because the legislation only deals with certain, named, terrorist bodies.

And he says no organisation on the Island is deemed to be a terror group.
