
The Manx nationalist party Mec Vannin says it hopes to forge positive links with Mannin Aboo, a new group campaigning for independence for the Island.
The group, whose name means Mannin Forever, has attracted more than 1,000 members to its Facebook site, many of them young people getting involved in politics for the first time.
A representative from the fledgling party laid the wreath in memory of Manx martyr Illiam Dhone at the commemoration ceremony on Saturday.
The Celtic League's Bernard Moffatt told the crowd the new generation of nationalists has a good opportunity to win wide support and push forward the cause of independence.
