Nationalist's scathing attack on finance industry

 

A leading nationalist has claimed the Manx Government has let the Island's people down, over thirty years.  

Mec Vannin leader Mark Kermode spoke at the annual outdoor Illiam Dhone commemoration at Hango Hill in Castletown (2 Jan).

The Manx martyr was executed there in 1663, for his part in handing the Island to parliamentary forces in the English civil war.

The new year tribute is used to promote the cause of Manx nationalism and Celtic independence more widely - and often, also to attack the establishment.

Yesterday Mark Kermode told a crowd of around 100 supporters, there has been little to show from three decades of the finance industry forming a key part of the Manx economy:
