The new chairman of Douglas Council's Public Health and Housing Committee is making sure it lives up to its name.
Colin Cain says the public health part of the committee's remit has slipped in the past few years, and the lack of activity needs to be addressed.
He is calling for reports on a number of related topics, including the council's contingency plans for dealing with a flu pandemic, and the monitoring of air and bathing water quality in the town.
Government already tests the water on a regular basis, but Councillor Cain says he wants the local authority to be more involved:
