
New parking charges are on the way for drivers in Douglas.
The promenade walkway will be used as a paid parking zone when spaces on the road are lost during the next phase of a major upgrade later this year.
The charge is among a raft of cost-saving measures agreed this week by the Department of Infrastructure, which has to find £5 million of budget savings this year.
Charges on the walkway will be the same as in nearby Chester Street car park.
Minister Phil Gawne says it's a reasonable charge to make in the current climate:
