New clinic to help smokers quit

If your New Year's resolution is to give up smoking, helpĀ is at hand.

The Department of Health is launching a new lunchtime drop-in clinic to help smokers quit.

The Quit4You Stop Smoking Service clinic will open in Douglas on Tuesday, January 3 at the Promenade Methodist Church.

It will run every Tuesday from 12.30pm to 1.30pm on a trial basis until the end of March.

Quit4You clinics are designed to be a 'one stop shop' for anyone thinking about quitting smoking, providing a place where they can drop in for free practical advice and regular support.

Health Minister David Anderson says he is very supportive of the pilot scheme and suggests anyone thinking of giving up should consider using the clinic for advice.

Evening Quit4You clinics have been running around the Island for sometime with great success and it's hoped the lunchtime sessions will provide another option for those wishing to break their smoking habit.
