New commissioner for Northern Lighthouse Board

And fortnight of routine maintenance completed

The Northern Lighthouse Board has a new Isle of Man Commissioner.

Dick Welsh – who received an MBE in 2020 for outstanding services to the maritime community – has been appointed to the role for a three year term.

It follows nomination by the Island's lieutenant governor.

Mr Welsh succeeds Captain Mike Brew who will retire at the end of May.

He said: "I am really looking forward to getting involved and becoming a valuable member of the board."

The Northern Lighthouse Board is the general lighthouse authority for the Island and Scotland and is responsible for the superintendence and management of all lights, buoys and beacons.

It's just completed a fortnight of routine maintenance here.
