The new-look Tynwald sits today for the first full session of the parliamentary year.

Twelve newly-elected MHKs step into national political life, as the Court considers a wide range of issues.

Motions on this month's order paper include a call for a committee to examine blunders in the running of the general election last month.

Free TV licences for pensioners, the appointment of an attorney general and the future role of Legislative Council members in government are also up for debate.

Among the new intake, Ayre and Michael member Tim Baker has a written question on erosion at Wrights Pit East in the north of the Island - which he fears could breach the landfill site.

Mr Baker is optimistic the intake of new blood, including five women will benefit parliament - and help get things done:
