New event inspires top performances

Racing in the Isle of Man's new Festival of Motorcycling has offered plenty of thrilling sights and sounds for the fans.

Two days of action over the bank holiday weekend in ideal conditions saw some of the world's top road racers battling hard for glory on machinery from another era.

Castletown's Chris Palmer scooped two Classic TT victories yesterday, one with the closest of margins.

Michael Dunlop added another first place finish to his four in June's TT, with a commanding performance in the Formula 1 race.

And there were wins for Jonathan Cutts and Dean Harrison.

Today (Tuesday 27) there's a chance to see vintage motor bikes take to the original TT course.

Around 200 machines are expected to take part in the Vintage time trial, which sets off around the original St John's course from its starting point in 1907, Tynwald Hill.

Members of the Vintage Motorcycle Club are gathering from 10am for an 11am start, and there's a chance to see the bikes on display at Tywnald Green before they set off, three at a time.

Thursday sees the last event of the VMCC Manx Grand Prix Rally 2013, a calavcade ride-in through Ramsey town to the Ramsey Sprint on Mooragh promenade at 12 noon.
