The DHSS's new Director of Finance believes his biggest challenge is to rein in departmental spending over the next twelve months.
Simon Jackson says there have been overspends on more than one occasion in the last few years and financial balance needs to be restored, but not to the detriment of services.
The DHSS has a gross revenue expenditure budget is nearly £395 million, about four times larger than the next government department.
And Mr Jackson says there are one or two new measures being introduced to make sure that figure is kept within:
No increase in domestic gas prices for rest of 2026
Law targeting sale of nicotine pouches takes step further
Procurement process for Kirk Onchan Post Office continuing
Bus station will not be moved to the Sea Terminal
