Minister quizzed on whether school will be eco-freindly
New government buildings should be more sustainable and take into account climate change.
That's the message from the education minister.
This week Julie Edge was quizzed, by Garff MHK Daphne Caine, on whether a proposed new secondary school in Castletown would be eco friendly:
Ms Edge has confirmed air source heat pumps are already in place under the school fields at Castle Rushen High School.
£44 million for the school scheme has been approved by Treasury.
Construction is due to start on the building in 2024/2025.
Today (7 November) Mrs Caine - who is the chair of the climate change transformation board – will attend a meeting of the Under2 Coalition.
She's at COP26 in Glasgow and is on the panel for a session on agriculture, forestry and land.
Two members of the climate change team – Richard Lole and Dr Fiona Gell – are also in attendance at the conference.
