Volunteer crew, supporters, and donors to gather for dedication service and handover event
A new lifeboat is set to be formally named and accepted into service during a special ceremony at the Port Erin Breakwater, near the local RNLI lifeboat station.
The event on Saturday, 12 July at 12.30pm will bring together volunteer crew members, their families, RNLI supporters, and colleagues from neighbouring lifeboat stations to celebrate the vessel’s arrival.
The naming ceremony will include a service of dedication led by Reverend Colin Barry of Arbory and Castletown Parish.
Musical accompaniment will be provided by the Rushen Silver Band.
As part of the proceedings, a representative from the Gough Ritchie Trust - the donor of the vessel - will officially hand the boat over to members of Neil Crowe’s family, in whose honour the lifeboat is being received.
Details regarding the donation and the vessel's chosen name are expected to be shared following its delivery, currently scheduled for the evening of 23 June.
