New look St John HQ to be declared open

A revamped St John Ambulance Headquarters is being officially opened today by a former commander of the charity on the Island.

Robin Oake, who is also an ex-chief constable of the Isle of Man, will do the honours.

The HQ has undergone a major rebuild over the past year.

The former garage has been converted into a state of the art, flexible layout training suite and there is also a new youth training room.

A new garage has been built, so the charity's three large ambulances can be serviced under cover, and the social and dining areas have been given a makeover.

Joining Mr Oake for the event this afternoon will be the Lieutenant Governor and Lady Haddacks, along with numerous individuals and organisations who have contributed to the funding of the work.

In addition to opening the new premises, Mr Oake will be presenting St John Ambulance's younger members, the Badgers, with awards.

Time of opening ceremony: 4pm.
