Matilda is the first youth bard candidate to submit all her poems in Manx Gaelic
The new Manx Youth Bard hopes to use her year in the role to promote the Manx language and culture.
Matilda Watson, a student at QEII High School, was appointed after impressing a judging panel with her poems in Manx Gaelic.
It's the first time a candidate has submitted all their entries in Manx.
The 17-year-old is the eighth person to hold the role, which is sponsored by the Isle of Man Arts Council and supported by Culture Vannin.
Matilda told Manx Radio why writing in Manx is so important to her:
More coastal overtopping expected as strong winds continue
Full lighting capability restored at Isle of Man Airport
Snaefell Mountain Railway out of action after storm damage
Council confident for Manor Pub's future
