New members monopolise Keys questions

MHKs David Ashford, Rob Callister and Lawrie Hooper dominate HoK

Just three MHKs - all new ones - dominate question time in the House of Keys next week.

David Ashford, Rob Callister and Lawrie Hooper are asking all eight for oral answer and two for written reply.

Mr Ashford has queries on reviewing the effectiveness of the tax cap, issuing tax demands and rebates for less than one pound and whether there is adequate funding for fertility treatment.

Mr Callister wants to know whether Manx Gas's tariff changes (three since December last year) were genuine reductions or simply an adjustment to meet the terms of its regulatory agreement.

He also asks if there is a strategy for ending people's dependence on a food bank in the Isle of Man, if government will consider assigning a minister or departmental member to represent older people.

Mr Hooper has two questions for oral answer for the economic development minister: whether he has plans to encourage more businesses to set up outside Douglas, and one on improving online services at the companies registry.

Manx Radio has coverage of House of Keys questions from 10am on Tuesday, on AM1368, online at manxradio.com and via the smartphone apps.
