New party to provide a political alternative

Manx Rebel Alliance to develop different policy options

A candidate who stood in last year's Manx general election has declared he's setting-up an 'alternative' political party, provisonally named The Manx Rebel Alliance.

James Hampton says he intends to form a group to discuss and develop policy options with the public, different to those offered by the government.

Mr Hampton picked up more than 1,000 votes in the constituency of Rushen, and of more than 60 candidates Island-wide was the 24th most highly voted for candidate in the election.

The release of the Programme for Government prompted Mr Hampton to register his new party and begin garnering support.   

He says he's keen to provide a positive alternative to the status quo:
