New patient transfer taxi firm appointed

ComCab promises high level of service

The health department says Liverpool firm ComCab will be the new provider of patient transfer in Liverpool from later this month.

The company is promising a first class service to Isle of Man residents travelling to appointments in the north-west of England during their transfer between ports and hospitals.

The taxi operator has been awarded the contract following a competitive tendering exercise and will commence service on Monday 27 March 2017.

Bridgewater, which provided the taxi transfer for over a decade, lost out in the process, and had its appeal turned down, despite a vocal public campaign to retain the company.

Health chiefs say those who travel regularly should not see any change in service, which will include full assistance and door to door collection and drop-off as standard.
