Update to 2006 Act
Proposed new laws to tackle sex crimes in the Island will be put to the public in the near future.
The last substantial update to the Sexual Offences Act was in 2006, which clarified the age of consent for homosexual acts.
Laws governing modern complaints such as 'revenge porn' were introduced in England as recently as 2015.
The Island's Chief Constable, Gary Roberts, welcomed the upcoming consultation, saying current legislation is 'outdated'.
It comes weeks after figures revealed more than 400 sexual assaults were reported to police between 2010 and last year - but just one in four resulted in prosecution.
