'We are committed to reaching net-zero', says Hartford Homes
A new 5,000 tree urban micro-wood has been planted by building company Hartford Homes near their Farmhill Grange development in Douglas.
The planting was approved by Douglas Borough Council after the builder identified an area of underused, sloping land with potential for ecological improvement, situated between an existing road and stream.
Hartford Homes worked closely with the Manx Wildlife Trust to identify viable tree species and best planting practices. The trees have been provided with bamboo matting to protect them during their early growth.
Sales Manager Julie Jones explained why they felt it was important:
Further sailings cancelled due to adverse weather
UK Government under scrutiny over Manx assisted dying legislation
Men jailed for £49,000 cocaine ferry importation plot
Warning in place as hill snow expected overnight
