Nicole Stott aims for next Shuttle mission

As Space Shuttle Atlantis carried out its last ever mission, the Isle of Man's own adopted astronaut is in training for the next - and possibly penultimate - mission for the shuttle fleet.

Nicole Stott is due to blast off aboard Atlantis on September 16 on mission SDS 133.

Nicole is married to Manxman Chris Stott, CEO of MannSat, and the pair tied the knot at St Peter's Church in Onchan. Last year she spent three months on the International Space Station and carried out a spacewalk.

She also took part in a live video link with secondary school students on the Island, answering their questions whilst wearing a three legs of Man T-shirt.

There have been suggestions that something similar could be organised for her flight in 2010.

Only one more mission for Shuttle Endeavour is scheduled after Nicole's mission in the Autumn before the ageing shuttle fleet is retired from service.
