No apology for delayed patient transfer flight

Manx Care says it works with airlines to support patients

Patients whose flight was delayed by 19 hours received no apology.

Friday evening's return from Liverpool was cancelled after everyone had boarded the plane due to technical issues.

After a night in a hotel, passengers returned to the airport for 6.15am, only to be told the fixed plane needed signing off by a Loganair engineer.

Eventually, it took off at around 2pm on Saturday.

Terry Discombe was on board:

Manx Care says it's aware of the issues and anyone with problems should contact the patient transfer team.

A full statement issued to Manx Radio reads:

Manx Care are aware of the issues with Loganair flights over last weekend and the ramifications for individuals travelling with patient transfer. It was particularly difficult on Saturday 09 April due to airline staff absences due to Covid.

They appreciate it is problematic for patients when flight delays occur and work with the airline carrier to put in place measures to support the patient. Any patient experiencing difficulties should contact patient transfer (or their out of hours contact) who will work with Loganair to resolve problems.
