No-fault divorce 'would lessen financial burden'

MHK seeking to change current system

The legal fees associated with divorce on the Isle of Man can cost a couple their home.

That's according to the MHK trying to introduce no-fault divorce on the Island.

Currently, Manx couples have to wait two years after separation to finalise their divorce, except in cases of adultery or unreasonable behaviour.

Garff member Daphne Caine believes updating the system reduces the financial burden:

A public consultation on the issue is accepting responses until 2 January.
