Groudle repair cost put at £200,000
There's no plan in place and no money in the budget to repair Groudle Glen waterwheel - that's according to Onchan District Commissioners.
The local authority owns most of the land in the Glen and says no funds have been made available this year for work on the wheel, which is currently fenced off.
It's estimating repairs could cost in the region of £200,000 due to issues with access, a problem the Commissioners identified during a tender exercise.
Garff MHK Daphne Caine raised the issue in Tynwald this week - she insisted the wheel was unsafe, unsightly, and clashed with the Island's biosphere status.
Clerk of Onchan Commissioners Michael Morrison told Manx Radio the landmark's location makes fixing it tricky.
