No services lost after closure of Ward 20

Stroke treatment and rehabilitation now in same place

No essential services have been lost as a result of a closure of Ward 20 at Noble's Hospital.

That's according to Health and Social Care Minister Howard Quayle.

He was answering a question in Keys this morning from South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft, who was asking if the provision for rehabilitation was sufficient following the ward's closure last July.

Mr Quayle said the move had come about following a study of stroke services on the Island by Professor Tony Rudd from the Royal College of Physicians, who stated that current best practice requires patients to be cared for and rehabilitated in a single location.
