No 'wider risk' to public following Ramsey arrest

Reports of police with riot shields in town at weekend

Police have confirmed there was no ‘wider risk’ to the public following an incident in Ramsey at the weekend.

A man was arrested at a property in the northern town on Saturday.

Manx Radio had reports that officers with riot shields attended a property at around 5pm and people were told to go indoors.

A spokesperson for the Isle of Man Constabulary said the arrest was in relation to concerns raised in connection with social media posts.

In a statement they add: "There is an ongoing investigation into firearms licencing matters so it would not therefore be appropriate to comment further other than to say that there was no wider risk to the public."
