Nominations invited for Tynwald Honour

Nominations are being sought for the Tynwald Honour.

The medal is the highest award that can be bestowed by Tynwald Court, and was established in 2005.

It's designed to be given to living individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to one or more areas of Manx life over a significant period of time.

Edward Oldham reports (text, below, from attached audio file):

The Tynwald Honour doesn't have to be awarded annually, and it is presented at the Tynwald Day ceremony.

The receipient doesn't have to be Manx born, but must have lived here for a considerable portion of their life.

Members of the public are asked to submit the name of any person who they consider to meet the criteria and send it to the President of Tynwald, care of the Legislative Buildings, including supporting evidence demonstrating why the individual is suitable.

The late Norman Sayle received the first medal last year.
