Not one affordable house available to buy

There were 266 applicants on the register as of 20 July 

There are zero homes available to buy for those on the First Home Fixed Scheme waiting list. 

Figures, up to July 20, were released by Infrastructure Minister Tim Crookall in response to a written question from Julie Edge. 

Mr Crookall said there were 266 applicants on the register in July, with 225 saying they were in a position to buy in the next year.

However, he also confirmed there 'were no completed affordable homes available for purchase under the First Home Fixed Scheme'.

The minister added that 35 homes are 'anticipated' to be available in the next 12 months, leaving seven times more people on the Register of First Time Buyers as there will be available affordable homes. 

Those 35 homes are to be at: 

• 6 homes at Braddan Woods, Braddan
• 6 homes at Ballagarraghyn, Jurby expected during 2026
• 23 homes at Glenfaba Rise, Peel expected during 2027

Tynwald recently approved changes to first time buyers' schemes that will cut the minimum residency requirement to three years.
