OFT has 'no backbone', says LVP

'Spineless!' is how the Liberal Vannin Party is describing the decision to drop an investigation into the Steam Packet Company's freight charges.

Last week, it was announced the Office of Fair Trading would not make public its findings on the grounds the conclusions had been overtaken by events and would be merely 'historical'.

Party leader Peter Karran says that, as public money has been spent on the report, Isle of Man residents should be made aware of its conclusions.

He is accusing the OFT of 'seriously lacking in backbone' and says it highlights the importance of the next government instituting a robust Freedom of Information Act.
